The perfect horror comedy should be gut-wrenchingly funny and still pack some scares as well.
Otis isn't really scary or terribly funny. Although it does have a few moments of wickedly sick humor and a stellar performance from Jere Burns as a repugnant FBI Agent.
What it does have going for it is it's element of surprise. There were enough twists and turns in the story that these types of stories don't usually take. Don't read up on the movie if you're planning on watching it because some of the twists are ruined in some of the write-ups I've seen.
The film is filled with a killer soundtrack featuring classics from the '70s & '80's and a funny little score I wouldn't mind hunting down. It's not as funny as it could be but it's written well enough from a plot point of view to save it from being a complete bore.
