PEEPING TOM [1960]

Carl Boehm is perfection in this role as the chilling, yet mild-mannered, serial killer in this classic psycho thriller.
One of the first films to the put the viewer in the killer's point of view, Peeping Tom proved to be just too much for audiences and critics alike of it's time and only became acclaimed and acknowledged as a great some 30 years later.
This twisted little story is a fascinating and unsettling delight to watch. Studying reactions of both yourself and the characters on screen is a must. Being oddly drawn towards violence, yet still holding back just enough to feel safe is something we all seem to do and this film puts us firmly in our place with a slap in the back of the head. Sprinkled with some cleverly timed humor Peeping Tom surprised me as it still managed to hold it's own as an extremely effective psychologically terrifying film.

This pops up regularly in film magazines as being a classic of the genre. I've been meaning to watch it for a while now.
