They suck, right? Mostly they do, but not always. In some cases your preference will depend upon which version you saw first. In others, there'll be a clear winner and only a fool would try to argue otherwise, which is not the same thing as loving something for personal reasons.
Below the cut is a list of films that are reviewed here on In a Nutshell and a few TV Miniseries that are reviewed over on Nut Box. The original/first version is on the left, with the remake/subsequent version(s) following. I'm not going to make a distinction between 'actual' remake and 'adapted from same source'. I'm sure I've missed some. Don't be shy. Point them out.

This is such a great idea. The first one I can think of off-hand is The Fly 1958/1986. And maybe that godawful Leprechaun reboot/remake in 2014. There's also Friday the 13th and Texas Chainsaw, but I didn't see those respective films reviewed.
Superhero flicks are the other ones that readily come to mind. Batman 1989/Batman Begins 2005. Spider-Man 2002/Amazing Spider-Man 2012. Hulk 2003/Incredible Hulk 2008. TMNT 1990/2014. Fantastic Four 2005/2015. I'm sure there's more I'm neglecting at the moment.
I had forgotten about some of these. My review for Nightmare 2010 made me chuckle.
Aw, hell, you're right. I forgot The Fly! (Sorry, Vincent). Fixed.
I'll add Leprechaun, too.
I don't currently own either Friday the 13th or TCM. I really should pick up TCM sometime.
There's a crap Amity remake too. I've up to film #8 scheduled, but I'm not planning on watching the remake ever again.
I thought about adding superhero movies but figured they'd be better off in their own post seeing as how there's so many of them. If or when it gets made I'll just link the entire thing.
Thanks for your help, Bud. If any more spring to mind, please say.
The Nut says Leprechaun: Origins is a prequel. The title seems to imply the same. But Wiki says it has nothing to do with the others. I'm confused.
Yeah, I forgot about Amityville too. There's a bunch of classic horror remakes. The Last House on the Left, Hills Have Eyes, I Spit On Your Grave, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, etc.
I think Leprechaun was meant to be a hard reboot of the series, but of course they got everything wrong and ended up killing the franchise entirely. I guess it's not necessarily a remake. I'll let you know if any others spring to mind.
