In Time (2011)

A thinly veiled metaphor for capitalism, in the future problems of overpopulation have been dealt with by a genetic alteration that puts a life clock on your forearm at age 25 that ticks off towards your death. It's replaced the need for currency, so in order to earn more time on your clock, you literally have to work to live. This is great for the rich who live for centuries, but not so good for the poor who have to live paycheck to paycheck. And...that's where the ingenuity of this movie ends. After that, the story settles into a familiar rehash of action and romantic film logic and starts losing its primary moral focus.

If this idea sounds a little bit familiar (besides the obvious dystopian 1984 connotations), consider that it was written and directed by Andrew Niccol of Gattaca, The Truman Show and S1m0ne fame.
