They finally did it! At the end of Jason Goes to Hell, Jason’s hockey mask was famously pulled down into the ground by Freddy’s claws, throwing into development the idea of a Freddy Krueger versus Jason Voorhees free-for-all for 10 years before finally coming into fruition.
All I want to say about the Friday the 13th series is that it’s boring. Jason is a pretty straight cut kind of guy; he butchers his victims brutally and mercilessly and to the point (like Michael Myers), but there’s no finesse to his style. Robert Englund as Freddy is fun. The idea is fun. It’s 100 times better than Alien vs. Predator, that’s for sure. Jason’s kind of a chump, you feel sorry for him because Freddy’s got the advantage all the way. It doesn’t really contain a satisfactory conclusion, but as a fanboy’s dream come true, it delivers, mainly in its last half. For everyone else, meh…it’s just another slasher flick.
