DOGHOUSE [2009]

Director Jake West's Doghouse seems like another pip-pip's attempt at recreating the brilliant horror/comedy of Shaun Of The Dead.
Scripted by Dan Schaffer, creator of the Dogwitch comic book series, the film is just as bad as Lesbian Vampire Killers with it's blatant misogyny and vapid sense of humor.  Stupidity and lack of originality aside, I found myself chuckling in a few brief moments and quite enjoyed the way West made use of the tiny set.  However, if you're looking for something that will be as much fun as Shaun, then look elsewhere...

SEVERANCE [2006]

What's supposed to be a leisurely weekend in the Hungarian mountains goes horribly wrong when people start dying one by one. It's pretty safe to admit the premise has become tiresome, however Severance changes the pace enough to prevent a complete waste of time.
Director Christopher Smith throws in a mischievously evil sense of humor, while effectively building up the tension as well, giving off a Dog Soldiers vibe. Admittedly the film has it's fair share of bumps and slips, especially in final act, but it's entertaining enough to satisfy the horror-hound craving some hilarious bloody carnage.

Mean Machine (2001)

Vinnie Jones is in prison and has to try and fit in with a cast of clichéd stock types in a British remake of The Longest Yard (1974). American football is replaced with regular football, which made me cringe when I found out. I hate football.  Despite that, it's the first time I've ever enjoyed a match in my entire life. The film is nothing to write home about, but the last half is good fun.
Jason Statham has a small role with very little screen time but steals the show every time he bulls his way in. It’s worth watching to see him on the field.
