FINDING VIVIAN MAIER [2013]

Finding Vivian Maier is a documentary about the eccentric American photographer whose extraordinary work was unknown until her death.
Discovered through a dusty old box of undeveloped negatives sold at an auction, Maier's life is slowly revealed to an amateur historian who has no idea what he's about to discover.  With each reveal the mystery behind the woman becomes even more puzzling and even more eerier.  With well over 100,000 discovered images her street photography showed she had a knack for capturing the beauty, sadness and darker sides of humanity which only scratched the surface of this artist's psyche.  Told through a series of interviews, voiced over her remarkable work, one can't help but feel invasive as we discover more and more about this fame-avoiding recluse.  It's an obsessive study of a woman nobody knew but once one unturns the first stone it's difficult not to want to dig deeper.
