Red Faction: Origins (2011)

A TV Movie based on the Volition Red Faction games. It takes place sometime between Guerrilla (2009) and Armageddon (2011) and tells the story of Faction member Jake Mason. Jake is the son of Guerrilla’s protagonist Alec Mason, and the father of Armageddon’s Darius.
It does a decent job of recreating the blandness of the game’s industrialised, dusty mining environment (I mean that in a good way). To compensate for the visual insipidness it tries hard to give the main characters some depth and it succeeds most of the time.
Jake is a poor man’s hero, but I enjoy an underdog story so it didn't put me off, even if it was utterly predictable.
