Ali G, Innit (1999)

This isn't the Ali G movie, it’s a compilation of the weekly interviews he did for The 11 O’Clock Show on Channel 4, which is where he first got recognition. Much of the comedy is derived from the reactions of the people he interviews and in how he subverts the things they say. It’s similar to what he’d go on to do with Borat (2006), but unlike the tactless Kazakh Ali is a council estate white man with a fake Jamaican accent who thinks he’s black. He's hilarious, especially when he goes ad-libbing. If they’d removed the canned laughter it would've been even better.

3 big ups out of 5

I'd watch this.

Sacha is a brilliant son of a bitch.

He's goes a little overboard occasionally but I admire the balls he has to do so.

He is. Balls of solid steel.
This is good times. It's not as well edited as a film, and the introductions are unnecessary (it was a weekly thing so they made sense originally) but the belly laughs are definitely there.
