Jack Frost (1997)

On his way to be executed, a serial killer's transport crashes into a genetic research truck, where his mutated DNA merges with the water molecules and he becomes a killer snowman able to reconstitute at will, all while swearing revenge on the small-time sheriff who caught him. You know exactly what you're getting with this over-the-top horror-comedy; ridiculous kills and cheesy one-liners. It shares a similar DNA to the Chucky movies, except the immortal soul has been trapped in ice and snow, so he's rendered unkillable.

I remember seeing this on video when it first came out. I was the perfect age for it. It remains one of the underrated gems of the season and a cult classic.

Scary Movie (2000)

The Wayans take on the slasher horror genre with this pitch-perfect parody that skewers its target every time. The quality of the humor in this film is so high, dirty, vulgar and sex-charged, and pushes the limits of bad taste, but it matches my sense of humor to a T. To be honest, these movies are a bit of comfort food for me because they remind me a time when I was still young and had my life ahead of me. A quarter-century later, it still holds up for me.

I have a stack of DVDs in the corner of my room that are awaiting a new home. They suck ass and I need to remove their shittiness from my house forever. That stack just got a little taller.

Night of the Demons (2010)

This isn't the worst remake I've ever seen, but it just cannot capture the magic of the original. Combines a few elements of the three films, but for the most part it's taken in a completely different direction. This time Angela (the chief demon) is played by Shannon Elizabeth, but the make-up effects are rather disappointing when compared to the rest of the series. Not to mention the cheesiness factor is cut down by at least half. Probably more satisfying than I give it credit for; I've been a fan of the original for so long that I can't get past how derivative this one feels.
