ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING [2015]

With big names like Simon Pegg, Eddie Izzard, Joanna Lumley, Robin Williams & all the living members of Monty Python involved, you would think writer/director Terry Jones' goofy fantasy Absolutely Anything would be comedy gold.
Sadly this is not the case and we're treated to a dim-witted bore about an average Joe who's given alien powers to do anything he could ever imagine which may or may not be a good thing.
With such an absurd idea and this sort of maniacal talent Jones should have let his cast improvise and let loose a little but instead everyone seems way too restrained and following the script line-to-line.  There's a few lukewarm laughs but in the end it does nothing but severely disappoint and make it feel like there really is bugger all down here on Earth.

DUMB & DUMBER TO [2014]

20 years later, Harry & Lloyd are back in Dumb & Dumber To, the sequel to the Farrelly Brothers' big screen debut.
Continuing the road trip/buddy flick blueprint, the boys head out in search of Harry's long lost daughter and inevitably hijinks ensue.  I'd be lying if I said this was any sort of quality film-making but, like the first, it never tries to be and lives up to it's name.  There's plenty of laughs to be had, insuring the Farrelly's don't lose their crown as the kings of gross-out comedy.   It feels a little outdated at times but if you're a huge fan of the original you'll find plenty to enjoy from this nostalgic trip through stupidity.

LET'S BE COPS [2014]

Director Luke Greenfield seems to be drawn to mildly funny comedies with really stupid concepts.
Let's Be Cops joins his preposterous filmography.
Two lost in life adults discover their cop costumes can pass as the real thing so they decide to run with it and get in a bigger mess than they had anticipated.
I like New Girl co-stars Jake Johnson & Damon Wayans Jr. so the film had their comedic chemistry going for it but the only thing missing was the comedy.  There's a stupidly hilarious moment early on but that's mostly due to the song choice to play over the scene and an engaging Lethal Weapon-esque final but apart from that it's pretty much mind-numbingly dull.
