Killing Zoe (1993)

Eric Stoltz attempts the kind of bank withdrawal that involves more than a signature and a smile. Unfortunately for him the people he chooses to work with are reckless assholes. His surprise when things go bad highlights a naivety someone in his role really ought not to have.
There’s a lengthy drug-addled scene that irks me, but it’s as well-considered as the rest when put into context. I do feel, however, that the same result could've been achieved in less time had the director wanted to do so.
Thankfully, the rest of the film is top class, well-framed and successfully paced, simmering constantly until the pot inevitably boils over.
The number of times its best moments have been copied over the years is a testament to how good it was at the time of release.

Three Colours: White (1994)

The second part of Kieslowski's Colours Trilogy (made up of Blue, White, Red) is less moody than the preceding one, but that doesn't mean it’s light-hearted. It's the story of a Polish immigrant named Karol Karol (Zbigniew Zamachowski) who goes to great lengths to fulfil a desire. To say any more than that would be a mistake on my part.
The film is literally bursting with symbolism, so much so that it's impossible to take it all in during just one viewing. Your reactions and allusions to that part of it will make viewing a personal experience, meaning the message has the potential to be different for each person. The ending will leave you with the best kind of questions.

An American Werewolf in Paris (1997)

Meh. You can tell the difference between an ‘80s movie and a ‘90s movie right off the bat. For one, the music choices. Awful. And the shitty CGI dates it even worse. The story involves a dumbass deciding to bungee jump off the Eiffel Tower, meets a girl (read: werewolf) who's about to commit suicide, stops her/it, then gets involved in a nonsensical plot involving some sort of werewolf serum or some shit like that. I don’t know. It’s dumb.
