Scary Movie 5 (2013)

AKA: Scary MoVie

This entry attempts to "reboot" the series with a new cast and offers a mishmash of several different parodies that don't really make any cohesive narrative sense, including Paranormal Activity, Evil Dead, Mama, Black Swan, Inception, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Fifty Shades of Grey. It's got a few clever laughs sprinkled throughout, but it's incredibly inconsistent due to an allegedly troubled production with over half the film being reshot.

Firestarter (1984)

A young Drew Barrymore is the titular starter of fires in this adaptation of a Stephen King novel. She’s the product of a union between two government test subjects and has inherited some unusual traits that make her a danger to herself and to the officials that want her in custody.
It resembles an early 80’s Cronenberg film, which was both a plus and a handicap because it filled me with hope that it could match his pacing but left me even more disappointed than I may have been normally when that didn't happen. It begins to fall apart in the second act and fails to get it back on track again before culminating in a rather dodgy ending.

LOONEY TUNES: BACK IN ACTION [2003]

Joe Dante's made a lot of entertaining popcorn flicks in his career. Some of them entertaining and some of them utter crap.
The live action/animated Looney Tunes: Back In Action falls somewhere in the middle. While it is significantly better than it's predecessor Space Jam, it doesn't quite live up to it's full potential. Aimed towards a younger audience the film makes no attempt to try to entertain adults or anyone with a brain. It'd rather keeps the father's attention with Jenna Elfman and Heather Locklear curiously dressed in short skirts, tight shirts and latex cat suits...for a kid's movie?
It's fun but not that great. Stick to Who Framed Roger Rabbit to see how it's done properly.
