If I Had Legs I'd Kick You (2025)

After a hole opens up in her ceiling, a put upon woman is forced to relocate to a shoddy motel with her ailing daughter. This dark psychological drama really put me on edge. It's a good approximation of being alive, where people are demanding and you're trying your best, but it's never good enough. You're constantly being criticized and made to feel bad for your choices, while you try to find support but there's none to be found. This actually feels like a great companion piece to Die My Love or Nightbitch. In short, motherhood sucks.

The Rutles 2: Can't Buy Me Lunch (2003)

A retread of the 1978 mockumentary about the Prefab Four, which utilizes lost scenes and a wealth of material captured for the original film, while featuring new wraparound segments and interviews from contemporaries. It's basically the same jokes as before, but it was so good the first time, it still works here.
The songs are genuinely great in their own right, you almost forget it's farce.

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story (2022)

The real and not-at-all completely made-up story of "Weird Al" Yankovic, who rose up from humble beginnings as an accordion-playing parodist to become one of the greatest original pop icons of all-time, to the envy of other artists.
In the same vein as Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, it skewers a lot of usual biopic tropes and goes off the rails in a big way, although it's never quite as funny as it could have been if it leaned completely into spoof territory. Once you're in on the joke, it gets hard to top itself. Daniel Radcliffe feels weirdly miscast as the lead, but it's fun to see the likes of Dr. Demento (Rainn Wilson), Madonna (Evan Rachel Wood) and other famous names pop up along the way.

Note: This film is so low-budget, they couldn't actually use the rights to many of Al's songs, which is inconceivable since he remains the producer on this. Maybe that's part of the joke.

Conan O'Brien: Can't Stop (2011)

Filmed in the period between his short stint on the Tonight Show and his permanent spot on TBS, this documentary contains some great behind-the-scenes footage of Conan O'Brien's Legally Prohibited From Being Funny On Television tour and gives you a rare glimpse of the comedian's style and candor. Always "on," Conan struggles with trying to push the boundaries in his constantly evolving tour across North America, all the while dealing with ravenous fans and exploitative producers. We get sneak peeks here and there, but I really would have liked to see more footage from the actual concerts, especially those featuring "guest" spots with Jim Carrey, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, etc. As it stands, it's a very entertaining and candid look at the pressures one man pushes himself through in order to keep his voice heard, despite countless obstacles (both network and self-imposed), and you actually get a sense of who he really is; sometimes brash or passive-aggressive, but always funny.
