Wavelength (1983)

Not everyone will manage it, but if you can make it to the halfway point in Mike Gray's indie sci-fi there's a moment that triggers introspection and for a short time makes you forget its low budget presentation.
It spends too long showing us that Bobby (Robert Carradine) is a struggling musician and never really uses the aspect in any meaningful way. The feelings that accompany his lack of success are certainly a factor in the story, but the main focus is his girlfriend Iris (Cherie Currie), a woman who hears silent screams emanating from an "abandoned" air force base, screams that are of alien origin, crying for help. On the whole the story is like something Spielberg might've once taken an interest in.
