The End of Oak Street (2026)

On a quiet suburban neighborhood street in 1982, residents are plagued by strange goings-on of the prehistoric variety. The trailers will do all of the heavy lifting for you, but for best results go into it blind. There's a moment about halfway through where I realized what type of movie this was going to be. Then, about five minutes later, something else happens which completely changes the entire tone again. It's somewhere in between these two extremes that I can't quite reconcile how I truly feel about this film. It has the veneer of classic '80s Amblin comfort food movies, but it's much darker than anticipated.

2½ "insane, stupid moments" out of 5

One of the rare joys of trailers as youtube ads, is not knowing what something is, immediately. Akin to being in a real theatre.

The very beginning of one of them had me popping off, because I legitimately thought it was The Regulators. Ugggh. I hate dinosaurs. Someday, please, both Regulators and Desperation.

Yeah, the poster does kind of remind me of that. Damn, now I’m disappointed, too.

I went back and forth on this for months. 2½ or 3? I hate when I can’t make up my mind. It’s the uncertainty that kept it at a lower score, but it’s much better than the trailers suggest.
