God, this movie was so fucking dumb, but it's kinda fun if you buy into its wacky premise. In the near future, California hosts a Grand Lottery, whereby the winner must survive by sundown in order to collect their winnings. In the meantime, everyone has carte blanche to kill the ticket holder and take it for themselves (the only caveat being that no guns are allowed). It's basically The Purge: Lottery Edition. Which makes less sense the more you think about it, but it's just a flimsy excuse for ultra levels of violence and over-the-top mayhem. I like Awkwafina and John Cena so I enjoyed it enough, although the bloopers at the end were probably the best part of the whole enterprise.

Do I smell Renfield on the horizon? I like Cena, too. He did a movie with Leguizamo and Key...Playing With Fire, iirc. It was a really good family movie, which was a weird realization, but that's exactly what it is. A Late 80s/early 90s family movie.
He's really great just being himself, too. Doing stuff for Wired, and the like. Never cared about his era of wrestling, but I'm definitely a fan. I've seen one Channing Tatum movie, and that was enough for me to believe that every role he's considered for, should just go to John.
I could probably whip up a Renfield nut in time for Nosferatu. Of course, that will also make me want to revisit Vampire's Kiss...and I've already got way too many titles planned for this month. My drafts folder is full of prepubescent nuts that are ready to drop. :erm: Funny enough, another Nicolas Cage movie is auto-scheduled to go up next. (Most of these are written a week or more in advance and auto-posted, so I don't even remember half the shit I've written.)
I remember Playing with Fire was pretty decent, but he killed it as Peacemaker. That show was freaking hysterical. Coincidentally, I also have another Cena movie scheduled within the next couple of days.
Oh, there must be a new Nosferatu movie. No wonder I saw so many thumbnails. I figured I was getting recommended retro-reviews from people's Halloween content. Hoult. Goddammit XD
The first Suicide Squad damaged me nearly as much as certain Sentai series. But, I have seen clips of the second one, and his show. I liked them, for him. Okay, a bit for Idris Elba. That's a whole conversation. I want desperately to love him in something other than Pacific Rim, because of my issues with it, but he's so legendary as Stacker, that I find it hard to believe when he's treated with disrespect, or I'm asked to believe that one of the most sophisticated men alive is a street thug. Okay, that one's largely Tyler Perry's fault =P
Oddly, he kinda works as Knuckles. No, that isn't just the Keanu talking.
Yeah, fucking Hoult is everywhere this year. I just saw another film of his tonight, totally unplanned. It's the Year of the Houltissance, or something.
I remember you weren't too keen on the first Suicide Squad, but James Gunn improved on it in every way in THE Suicide Squad. Even so, I'm cautiously optimistic about what his rehaul of the DCU will entail. But at the very least, that first season of Peacemaker was gold.
Idris Elba seems like one of those dudes who I respect more as a person (he conducts himself very well in interviews) than anything I've actually seen him in. I know he's been good in things, I just can't seem to remember a single defining role of his.
And oh yeah, holy shit, I forgot Reeves is gonna be Shadow. I'm planning to rewatch the first two before the third comes out so I can review the whole trilogy.
I knew they were going to screw the pooch with Aquaman 2. I was right XD I don't have any interest in DC, beyond Aquaman.
I like the first trailer for Sonic 3. He seems to be getting better voice direction than he did for Duke Kaboom. I love the shot homaging the Super Burly Brawl.
Buuuuuuuuuuut, Sonic as a franchise... The head dude coming out and saying what he did, with no remorse... And, people wonder why I'm a misanthrope. I would have brought in Blaze before Shadow.
Oh, and having Sonic say he needs the help of the human characters. Turns out, THEY HAVE LEARNED NOTHING.
I'm just glad they changed their original design of Sonic with teeth. I didn't think so badly of them, but my love for Jim Carrey is what persists. I'll take whatever I can get.
Oh, dude, I'm sorry, again! I wasn't even thinking of Eggman! That's testament to Carrey, blending in that seamlessly. I meant Cyclops XD
Yeah, bringing in James Marsden as the comic relief sidekick (or whatever) does seem like an unnecessary diversion in those movies. I almost kind of wish they did the whole thing as a purely CG movie, like the latest Mario Bros. But I kind of dig the whole world-blending thing, à la Roger Rabbit, to root it in reality.
And I gained a lot of respect for Marsden in that documentary/prank show he did, Jury Duty. He seems like a cool guy in real life.
