Samurai Sentai Shinkenger vs. Go-onger: GinmakuBang!! (2010)

Unlike summer movies, Sentai crossovers clock in around the hour mark. Still brief, but long enough to play off of the extreme differences and similarities of the current and previous years’ teams. As trained samurais, the Shinkengers’ default role is to be unwilling to work with amateurish senshi, of which every other team is comprised, in their eyes. They can be loving and goofy with one another, but to everyone else they’ve gotta be dickbags. Mixed groupings end up strewn across Go-Onger’s Braneworld dimensions and this leads to some genuinely entertaining scenarios before everyone reconvenes for the all-out brawl. The requisite ‘combination’ of both sets of mechs is quite disappointing and there’s little in the way of elevating discourse. It’s still a damn fun meander.
